Blindfolded Diaper Changing Baby Shower Game

Updated: Feb 27, 2018

Want and interactive, fun game that has involves all your baby shower guests? I've got an easy, quick and silly game that is fun for all ages!

I had my son five months before I helped host this baby shower and one thing I have learned is that every momma has to get great at changing a diaper in the middle of the night! So why not get a little practice in by playing a blindfolded diaper changing game at the baby shower?!

Watching the old pros, the novice moms and the totally clueless try and whip a diaper on a teddy bear was hilarious!

Want to see the video of the game at the shower? Here you go!

Things You Will Need

This kind of depends on the number of people attending the shower. You can get this all together a few days before the shower so you should have a pretty close guess on number of guests. For this shower, we were expecting 30-ish and I think I counted 28 when we started the game. Don't worry too much about this but the more people you have, try and have more stuffed animals so the teams are a bit smaller.

So for 30-ish people, I rounded up 3 stuffed animals, 3 nighttime eye masks from Walmart (tip: these are normally by the pharmacy in a weird spot), and of course diapers! I just bought a box of Luvs Diapers to use and gave them all to the momma to be as part of my gift to her. Make sure the diapers actually fit the stuffed animals you are using for the game!!! I had 2 extras of everything in a bag under the table just in case we needed to do more teams but there was only room for a small table so take that into consideration).

What To Do

So while everyone is still enjoying the present parade, sneak back and get set up for the game. Lay out the stuffed animals with diapers on them, and then lay out a pile of diapers next to each "baby". Do a quick head count and guess who will and won't participate (like moms holding babies or the elderly with disabilities). Choose the number of teams you will have and when there is clearly a good break point in presents, get everyone's attention.

I would start by saying, "Ok everybody! We are going to take a small break from presents. Right now, we are going to test your skills by playing a Blindfolded Diaper Changing Game!!!" Be animated in this and make it fun.

If you choose to do three teams, go around the room counting everyone off into teams of 3. "You're a 1, you're a 2 and you're a 3!" Then go back to your game and tell the teams where to stand. Let them get a look at the layout so they know where to grab diapers from, have the first folks put on the masks, and say GO!

  • One part I didn't think of at first but it ended up really adding to the fun was having the mom-to-be stand up at the front with you to help you coach and cheer on the players! Then have her jump back in line when it's close to the end. The video cracks me up because the mom-to-be ends up being the star of the show, thinking she is racing when she is actually working really hard to be dead last hahaha!

The prize for this game could be bragging rights, unless you plan ahead for small little gifts like nail polishes for all the winning team members.

After the game, remind everyone to get some dessert or fill up there cup and return to watching presents!

If you tried this, let me know! I want to hear all the fun stories and see pics from your Blindfolded Diaper Changing Game!
